Depression
Have you ever felt depressed,
Thoughts don't line up or are repressed;
Like driving a car in a thick haze,
Headlights work but vision's a grey.
Have you ever felt such unrest,
Where guilt is heavy on your chest;
Feeling so heavy it pins you down,
Unable to get yourself off the ground.
Have you ever felt so drained,
Nothing matters and without time constraint;
Fatigue hits you like a bus,
Mitochondria's ATP doesn't last.
Have you ever felt all distracted,
As if reality has fractured;
You tried your best to concentrate,
In the end you cry and procrastinate.
Have you ever felt so worthless,
That the world does not need your existence;
It feels like no one even cares,
All judging eyes, jeers and leers.
Have you ever felt like ending it all,
A jump, a hop, a long long fall;
Days of life flashes before your eyes,
"It's too late now", you reached for the sky.
You reached for the sky, many hands appeared,
"Don't let go!" a group shouted in fear;
Family, loved ones, doctors;
Grabbed your wrist, sleeve and collar.
Truth is, you are greatly loved and cherished,
Like a diamond after a thorough polish;
You are greatly valued here on earth,
From the moment you are birthed.
